Ella Waits for the Big Ship

  1. Ella and her brother Tom sit on the warm sand by the harbor.

    Ella en haar broer Tom zitten op het warme zand bij de haven.

  2. Max, their dog, wags his tail and looks at the water.

    Max, hun hond, kwispelt met zijn staart en kijkt naar het water.

  3. "I want to see the big ship," Ella says.

    "Ik wil het grote schip zien," zegt Ella.

  4. Tom sets a small lunch box and a blue beach bag on the blanket.

    Tom zet een kleine broodtrommel en een blauwe strandtas op het kleed.

  5. Tom takes out a soft ball and a light bat.

    Tom haalt een zachte bal en een lichte knuppel tevoorschijn.

  6. "We can kick it here," he says, smiling.

    "We kunnen er hier tegen schoppen," zegt hij, glimlachend.

  7. Ella kicks the ball, and the ball is bouncing toward the rope.

    Ella schopt de bal en de bal stuitert naar het touw.

  8. Ella does a small jump and stops it with her foot.

    Ella maakt een kleine sprong en stopt die met haar voet.

  9. There is a road by the park, and a bright yellow bus goes past.

    Er is een weg bij het park en er rijdt een felgele bus voorbij.

  10. A red truck rumbles by, and a boy on a blue bike rings his bell.

    Een rode vrachtwagen bromt voorbij, en een jongen op een blauwe fiets rinkelt met zijn bel.

  11. Out on the water, a small boat moves slowly, and two white birds fly low.

    Op het water vaart een klein bootje langzaam, en twee witte vogels vliegen laag.

  12. "This view is nice," Tom says, and Ella nods.

    "Dit uitzicht is mooi," zegt Tom, en Ella knikt.

  13. A soft tick from Tom's watch makes Ella look at the big clock by the pier.

    Een zacht tikje van Toms horloge doet Ella naar de grote klok bij de pier kijken.

  14. "The big ship will come soon," she says, but the yellow bus stops and blocks their view.

    Het grote schip komt snel, zegt ze, maar de gele bus stopt en blokkeert hun zicht.

  15. "Let's cross the path and stand by the rail," Tom says.

    Laten we het pad oversteken en bij de reling gaan staan, zegt Tom.

  16. They cross the path, and Ella picks a pretty shell and holds it in her hand.

    Ze steken het pad over, en Ella raapt een mooie schelp en houdt die in haar hand.

  17. Now there are no buses in front, and they all look out to the harbor.

    Nu zijn er geen bussen voor en ze kijken allemaal naar de haven.

  18. The big ship slowly comes into view, and Ella whispers, "It is awesome."

    Het grote schip komt langzaam in zicht en Ella fluistert: "Het is geweldig."

  19. Max sits very still by Ella, and his tail does not move as they wave to the boat and the ship.

    Max zit heel stil bij Ella en zijn staart beweegt niet terwijl ze naar de boot en het schip zwaaien.

  20. They eat from the lunch box and pack the bag, then they smile and say, "This was a good day."

    Ze eten uit de lunchtrommel en pakken de tas in, dan glimlachen ze en zeggen: "Dit was een goede dag."
