Geschichte

Ella Waits for the Big Ship

1. Ella and her brother Tom sit on the warm sand by the harbor.

   Ella und ihr Bruder Tom sitzen auf dem warmen Sand am Hafen.

2. Max, their dog, wags his tail and looks at the water.

   Max, ihr Hund, wedelt mit dem Schwanz und schaut aufs Wasser.

3. "I want to see the big ship," Ella says.

   "Ich möchte das große Schiff sehen," sagt Ella.

4. Tom sets a small lunch box and a blue beach bag on the blanket.

   Tom stellt eine kleine Brotdose und eine blaue Strandtasche auf die Decke.

5. Tom takes out a soft ball and a light bat.

   Tom holt einen weichen Ball und einen leichten Schläger heraus.

6. "We can kick it here," he says, smiling.

   „Wir können es hier treten“, sagt er und lächelt.

7. Ella kicks the ball, and the ball is bouncing toward the rope.

   Ella tritt den Ball, und der Ball hüpft Richtung Seil.

8. Ella does a small jump and stops it with her foot.

9. There is a road by the park, and a bright yellow bus goes past.

10. A red truck rumbles by, and a boy on a blue bike rings his bell.

    Ein roter Lastwagen rumpelt vorbei, und ein Junge auf einem blauen Fahrrad klingelt mit der Fahrradklingel.

11. Out on the water, a small boat moves slowly, and two white birds fly low.

    Draußen auf dem Wasser bewegt sich ein kleines Boot langsam, und zwei weiße Vögel fliegen tief.

12. "This view is nice," Tom says, and Ella nods.

    „Diese Aussicht ist schön“, sagt Tom, und Ella nickt.

13. A soft tick from Tom's watch makes Ella look at the big clock by the pier.

    Ein leises Ticken von Toms Uhr lässt Ella zur großen Uhr am Pier schauen.

14. "The big ship will come soon," she says, but the yellow bus stops and blocks their view.

    „Das große Schiff kommt bald“, sagt sie, aber der gelbe Bus hält und versperrt ihre Sicht.

15. "Let's cross the path and stand by the rail," Tom says.

16. They cross the path, and Ella picks a pretty shell and holds it in her hand.

17. Now there are no buses in front, and they all look out to the harbor.

18. The big ship slowly comes into view, and Ella whispers, "It is awesome."

19. Max sits very still by Ella, and his tail does not move as they wave to the boat and the ship.

    Max sitzt ganz still bei Ella, und sein Schwanz bewegt sich nicht, als sie dem Boot und dem Schiff zuwinken.

20. They eat from the lunch box and pack the bag, then they smile and say, "This was a good day."

    Sie essen aus der Brotdose und packen ihre Tasche, und dann lächeln sie und sagen: „Das war ein guter Tag.“
