Ella Waits for the Big Ship

Ella and her brother Tom sit on the warm sand by the harbor.

إيلا وأخوها توم يجلسان على الرمل الدافئ بجوار المرفأ.
Max, their dog, wags his tail and looks at the water.

ماكس، كلبهم، يهز ذيله وينظر إلى الماء.
"I want to see the big ship," Ella says.

تقول إيلا: «أريد أن أرى السفينة الكبيرة.»
Tom sets a small lunch box and a blue beach bag on the blanket.

توم يضع علبة غداء صغيرة وحقيبة شاطئ زرقاء على البطانية.
Tom takes out a soft ball and a light bat.

"We can kick it here," he says, smiling.

Ella kicks the ball, and the ball is bouncing toward the rope.

There is a road by the park, and a bright yellow bus goes past.

"This view is nice," Tom says, and Ella nods.

A soft tick from Tom's watch makes Ella look at the big clock by the pier.

"The big ship will come soon," she says, but the yellow bus stops and blocks their view.

"Let's cross the path and stand by the rail," Tom says.

They cross the path, and Ella picks a pretty shell and holds it in her hand.

Now there are no buses in front, and they all look out to the harbor.

The big ship slowly comes into view, and Ella whispers, "It is awesome."

Max sits very still by Ella, and his tail does not move as they wave to the boat and the ship.

They eat from the lunch box and pack the bag, then they smile and say, "This was a good day."
