Verhaal

Mila en de Zachte Wind bij het Meer

1. De zon zakt boven het meer op de aan de duinen.

   The sun sets above the lake by the dunes.

2. Mila wil leren en glimlacht naar haar broer Lars.

   Mila wants to learn and smiles at her brother Lars.

3. Mama zet de blauwe klaar naast het zandpad, en Noor spreidt de handdoeken uit.

   Mama sets the blue one by the sand path, and Noor spreads out the towels.

4. Mila draagt haar onder haar rode zwemvest en kijkt naar haar piepende.

   Mila wears it under her red life jacket and looks at her squeaking toy.

5. Ze kwamen vanmiddag met langs het water, dus iedereen is al warm.

   They walked by the water this afternoon, so everyone is already warm.

6. Bij de steiger ligt een klein zeilbootje van het surf, en Lars wil straks ook even proberen.

   By the pier is a small sailboat from the surf, and Lars wants to try it later.

7. Noor wil liever in het ondiepe stuk, maar ze wacht op Mila.

   Noor would rather be in the shallow part, but she is waiting for Mila.

8. Mila knikt en pakt het bord om te oefenen.

   Mila nods and takes the board to practice.

9. De wind is zacht, en Mila peddelt rustig naar buiten.

   The wind is gentle, and Mila paddles calmly out.

10. Dan valt de wind bijna weg, dus ze kan niet goed sturen.

    Then the wind almost dies down, so she can't steer well.

11. Een klein spatje raakt haar gezicht, ze wiebelt, en plonst lachend terug in het meer.

    A small splash hits her face, she wobbles, and splashes back into the lake, laughing.

12. Ze ademt diep in en kijkt even naar haar horloge voor de tijd en de wind.

    She takes a deep breath and glances at her watch for the time and the wind.

13. "De wind is nog licht; laten we eerst zwemmen," zegt Lars, "dan proberen we daarna het zeil."

    "The wind is still light; let's swim first," says Lars, "then we'll try the sail."

14. Ze gaan samen het water in bij de steiger en zwemmen korte baantjes naast het touw.

    They go into the water together at the jetty and swim short laps next to the rope.

15. Na het spelen hijst Lars het zeil, en ze varen een klein rondje dicht bij de kant.

    After playing, Lars hoists the sail, and they sail a small circle close to the shore.

16. Op het zand doen Mila en Noor even alsof ze op het duintje, en iedereen lacht.

    On the sand Mila and Noor pretend for a moment they are on the little dune, and everyone laughs.

17. Als de lucht roze wordt, lopen ze terug naar de blauwe tent naast het pad.

    When the sky turns pink, they walk back to the blue tent next to the path.

18. Mama had al bekers thee klaar en gaf ze een warme handdoek.

    Mama already had cups of tea ready and gave a warm towel.

19. Mila voelt zich trots en zegt dat ze morgen weer wil oefenen met staan op het bord.

    Mila feels proud and says she wants to practice standing on the board again tomorrow.

20. Buiten ruist het riet bij het meer, en binnen is alles stil en warm.

    Outside the reeds rustle by the lake, and inside everything is quiet and warm.
