Story

Şemsiye Çadırı

1. Akşamüstü, yağmur cama vuruyor.

   In the late afternoon, rain hits the window.

2. Can, salonun büyük penceresinden bakıyor.

   Can looks out the big window of the living room.

3. Annesi Ayşe, ince beyaz perdeyi yavaşça çekiyor.

   Her mother Ayşe slowly pulls the thin white curtain.

4. Can, 'Dışarı çıkmak istiyorum,' diyor.

   Can says, 'I want to go outside.'

5. Kapının yanında sarı yağmurluğu ve mavi şemsiyesi asılı duruyor.

   A yellow raincoat and a blue umbrella are hanging by the door.

6. Ama bugün gök gürültülü bir fırtına var.

   But there is a thunderstorm today.

7. Gök gürültüsü patlayınca, Can biraz ürperiyor.

   When thunder rumbles, Can shivers a little.

8. Ayşe, 'Şimdi çıkamayız, çünkü şimşek tehlikeli,' diyor.

   Ayşe says, 'We can't go out now because lightning is dangerous.'

9. Ablası Elif, 'Peki yağmurla evde nasıl oynarız?' diye soruyor.

   Her sister Elif asks, "So how do we play at home when it rains?"

10. Ayşe, bitki resimli kitabı açıyor ve 'Bu bir yağmur ormanı, bakın,' diyor.

    Ayşe opens the book with plant pictures and says, "This is a rainforest, look."

11. Can yağmurluğunu giyiyor ve şemsiyeyi açıp küçük bir çadır yapıyor.

    Can puts on his raincoat, opens his umbrella, and makes a small tent.

12. Elif, elleri ıslanmasın diye lastik bir eldiven takıyor.

    Elif puts on a rubber glove so her hands don't get wet.

13. Masaya birkaç damla su dökülünce, Ayşe bir havlu getiriyor.

    When a few drops of water spill on the table, Ayşe brings a towel.

14. Can, fincanı dikkatle siliyor ve masayı havluyla temizliyor.

    Can carefully wipes the cup and cleans the table with a towel.

15. Az önce ışıklar bir an söndü, ama şimdi her şey sakin.

    Just now the lights went out for a moment, but now everything is calm.

16. Can, 'Fırtına bitince yarın dışarıda su birikintilerine zıplayacağız,' diyor.

    Can says, 'When the storm ends, we'll jump in puddles outside tomorrow.'

17. Ayşe gülümsüyor ve 'Evet, birlikte gideceğiz, çünkü hava daha güvenli olacak,' diyor.

    Ayşe smiles and says, 'Yes, we'll go together because it will be safer.'

18. Şimdi ise üçü, pencerenin yanında kurdukları şemsiye çadırında yağmurun sesini dinleyerek yavaşça gevşiyor.

    Now the three of them slowly relax in the umbrella tent they set up by the window, listening to the rain.
