Story

Sisli Gün, Sıcak Oda

1. Sabah, Yusuf battaniyesiyle kanepede uyandı.

   In the morning, Yusuf woke up on the couch with his blanket.

2. Bugün halının üstünde bir kule yapmak istiyor, ama burnu tıkalı ve halsiz.

   Today they want to build a tower on the carpet, but their nose is blocked and they feel weak.

3. Pencereden bakınca hava sisli, bu yüzden evde kalmak istiyor.

   When he looks out the window the weather is foggy, so he wants to stay home.

4. Yusuf'un karnı hafifçe ağrıyor ve 'Off,' diyor.

   Yusuf's stomach hurts a little and he says, 'Ow.'

5. Dün gece erken yattı ama yine de her şey biraz zor geliyor.

   She went to bed early last night, but everything still feels a bit hard.

6. Ayşe, 'İyi misin?' diye sorar.

   Ayşe asks, 'Are you okay?'

7. Yusuf fısıldar: 'Biraz kızgın ve sıkılmış hissediyorum, çünkü bugün dışarı çıkamıyorum.'

   Yusuf whispers, 'I feel a little angry and bored because I can't go out today.'

8. Ayşe, 'Tamam,' der ve mutfaktan ılık su getirir; Yusuf çok susamış.

   Ayşe says, 'Okay,' and brings lukewarm water from the kitchen; Yusuf is very thirsty.

9. Alnına ıslak bir bez koyuyor.

   He puts a wet cloth on his forehead.

10. Sonra küçük bir çorba yapıyor ve 'Şimdi dinlen,' der.

    Then they make a small soup and say, "Now rest."

11. Azıcık şurup verir; tadı berbat gelir ama bal damlatınca Yusuf gülümser.

    Someone gives a little syrup; it tastes awful, but when honey is added Yusuf smiles.

12. Yusuf kanepenin yanında yavaşça ayağa kalkarken küçük sehpayı iter ve dizine çarpar; orası hemen acıdı.

    Yusuf slowly stands up beside the couch, pushes the small side table and it hits his knee; it hurts right away.

13. Dizinde azıcık kan görünür, Yusuf ürker ama Ayşe sakin kalır.

    There is a little blood on the knee; Yusuf is startled but Ayşe stays calm.

14. Komşu hemşire Derya içeri gelir ve, 'Merak etme, evdeyiz, her şey yolunda,' der.

    Neighbor and nurse Derya comes in and says, 'Don't worry, we're here, everything is fine.'

15. Derya dizini temizler, bandaj yapar ve 'Bak, şimdi daha iyi,' der.

    Derya cleans her knee, puts on a bandage, and says, "Look, it's better now."

16. Ayşe ile Yusuf halının üstünde sessiz bir kule kurar ve yavaşça sayar.

    Ayşe and Yusuf build a quiet tower on the rug and count slowly.

17. Derya, 'Derin nefes al, üçe kadar say,' der; Yusuf dener ve gülümser.

    Derya says, "Take a deep breath, count to three;" Yusuf tries and smiles.

18. Akşam pencereden dışarısı yine sisli görünür, ama içerisi sıcak ve güvenlidir.

    In the evening, the view outside the window looks foggy again, but inside it is warm and safe.

19. Yusuf annesine sokulur ve 'Şimdi daha iyiyim,' der; karnı artık rahatsızlık çıkarmaz.

    Yusuf snuggles up to his mother and says, 'I'm better now'; his stomach doesn't bother him anymore.

20. Ayşe ışığı kısar, Yusuf battaniyesine sarılır ve sessizce uykuya dalar.

    Ayşe dims the light, Yusuf wraps himself in his blanket and falls asleep quietly.
