Das graue Bild und das goldene Licht

1. Es ist Abend im Wohnzimmer, und warmes Licht fällt von der Stehlampe.

   It is evening in the living room, and warm light falls from the floor lamp.

2. Ben sitzt auf dem Sofa mit Mama Anna und seiner kleinen Schwester Lea.

   Ben sits on the sofa with Mom Anna and his little sister Lea.

3. Er mag Fotografie, und heute will er seine digitalen Bilder zeigen.

   He likes photography, and today he wants to show his digital pictures.

4. Er macht den Fernseher an und steckt die Kamera an.

   He turns on the TV and plugs in the camera.

5. Der Bildschirm blitzt kurz auf, aber das erste Foto wirkt grau.

   The screen flashes briefly, but the first photo looks gray.

6. Die Farben sehen blass aus, und Ben runzelt die Stirn.

   The colors look pale, and Ben wrinkles his brow.

7. Draußen vor dem Fenster hängt Nebel, und die Straße ist still.

   Outside the window there is fog, and the street is quiet.

8. Mama sagt, dass vielleicht ein Kabel locker ist oder der Modus falsch ist, weil der Strom nicht richtig ankommt.

   Mom says that maybe a cable is loose or the mode is wrong because the power isn't getting through properly.

9. Ben atmet tief und lächelt, und wir bleiben ruhig.

   Ben takes a deep breath and smiles, and we stay calm.

10. Er öffnet das Menü und stellt die Farbe höher, weil das Bild sonst zu dunkel ist.

    He opens the menu and raises the color because otherwise the picture is too dark.

11. Dann macht er den Fernseher wieder an und wählt den richtigen Eingang.

    Then he turns the TV back on and selects the right input.

12. Jetzt leuchten die Bilder, und warmes, goldenes Licht aus der Lampe mischt sich mit dem Blau des Bildschirms.

    Now the pictures glow, and warm golden light from the lamp mixes with the blue of the screen.

13. Das zweite Foto zeigt Lea im Park, und nichts ist mehr grau oder blass.

    The second photo shows Lea in the park, and nothing is gray or pale anymore.

14. Wir lachen, weil das Gesicht von Papa auf einem Bild so groß ist.

    We laugh because Dad's face is so big in a photo.

15. Ben legt den Kopf an Mamas Schulter und flüstert, dass Fotos mit gutem Licht am schönsten sind.

    Ben lays his head on Mom's shoulder and whispers that photos look best with good light.

16. Durch den Nebel wird die Straße vor dem Fenster weich und fast golden, und Ben macht ein letztes Foto von innen.

    The fog makes the street outside the window soft and almost golden, and Ben takes one last photo from inside.

17. Es hat geklappt, und er speichert das Bild ruhig ab.

    It worked, and he calmly saves the picture.

18. Dann schalten sie den Fernseher aus, und das Zimmer bleibt still und freundlich.

    Then they switch off the TV, and the room stays quiet and friendly.
