Story

Sanne luistert in de klas

1. De ochtendzon valt zacht in de klas.

   The morning sun falls softly into the classroom.

2. Sanne zit op haar stoel in de klas.

   Sanne sits on her chair in class.

3. Ze wil vandaag goed luisteren naar juf Els.

   She wants to listen well to Teacher Els today.

4. Juf Els lacht en zegt: "Kijk naar mij".

   Teacher Els laughs and says, 'Look at me.'

5. Sanne kijkt en legt haar handen op haar boek.

   Sanne looks and puts her hands on her book.

6. Els vraagt: "Wat hoor je eerst, de vraag of het antwoord?".

   Els asks, "Do you hear the question or the answer first?".

7. Op het bord staat een korte zin, en de klas is stil.

   There is a short sentence on the board, and the class is quiet.

8. Sanne leest de zin en steekt haar vinger op.

   Sanne reads the sentence and raises her hand.

9. "Ik weet het," fluistert ze, "eerst luisteren we, dan praten we."

   "I know," she whispers, "first we listen, then we talk."

10. Dan rolt er een potlood van Noors tafel en tikt op de vloer.

    Then a pencil rolls off Noor's table and taps on the floor.

11. Sanne schrikt even en denkt aan thuis: "Ik woon dicht bij de school".

    Sanne is startled for a moment and thinks of home: "I live close to the school."

12. Ze is even afgeleid, maar ze ademt rustig en kijkt weer naar Els.

    She is briefly distracted, but she breathes calmly and looks back at Els.

13. "Luister met je oren en kijk met je ogen," zegt Els zacht.

    "Listen with your ears and look with your eyes," Els says softly.

14. Sanne richt zich op, kijkt naar Els, en hoort de opdracht duidelijk.

    Sanne sits up, looks at Els, and hears the instruction clearly.

15. Ze fluistert naar Noor: "We moeten eerst lezen, dan werken," en Noor knikt.

    She whispers to Noor, "We must read first, then work," and Noor nods.

16. Aan het eind van de les geeft Els een kleine ster aan Sanne, want ze luisterde goed.

    At the end of the lesson Els gives Sanne a small star because she listened well.

17. Sanne glimlacht en zegt zacht: "Dank je, juf."

    Sanne smiles and says softly: "Thank you, teacher."

18. De klas blijft rustig, en iedereen voelt zich klaar voor dromen en slaap.

    The class stays calm, and everyone feels ready to dream and sleep.
