Verhaal

De rustige ingang

1. Tess staat met mama Sara en haar vriend Daan op het dorpsplein en wil vanavond naar het festival.

   Tess is standing with her mom Sara and her friend Daan in the village square and wants to go to the festival tonight.

2. Het is warm en licht, en in ons dorp hangen lampions boven de kraampjes.

   It is warm and bright, and in our village lanterns hang above the stalls.

3. Ze denken aan het stadion bij het plein.

   They think about the stadium by the square.

4. We lopen naar de ingang, maar de rij is lang en we weten even niet waar we moeten zijn.

   We walk to the entrance, but the line is long and we don't know where to go.

5. Naast de fontein staat een houten bord met een kaart van het gebied.

   Next to the fountain there is a wooden sign with a map of the area.

6. Op de kaart zien we het treinstation, de garage, een gezellig café, de camping, het stadscentrum, en ook een pijl naar het stadion.

   On the map we see the train station, the garage, a cozy café, the campsite, the town centre, and also an arrow to the stadium.

7. De pijlen op het bord draaien in de wind, en Tess is bang dat we te laat komen.

   The arrows on the board turn in the wind, and Tess is afraid that we will be late.

8. Kunnen we iemand vragen, mama?

   Can we ask someone, Mom?

9. We lopen naar het café bij het plein om hulp te vragen.

   We walk to the café on the square to ask for help.

10. In het café glimlacht Noor achter de toonbank en wijst ons de rustige weg naar buiten.

    In the café Noor smiles behind the counter and shows us the quiet way out.

11. De rustige ingang ligt links van het stadion, naast de garage en een smal pad naar de camping, zegt ze.

    She says the quiet entrance is to the left of the stadium, next to the garage and a narrow path to the campsite.

12. Ze tekent een pijl op een servet, want het is erg druk bij de grote poort.

    She draws an arrow on a napkin, because it's very busy at the big gate.

13. We gingen langs de kraampjes en om het hoekje en vonden de kleine poort bij het gras.

    We went past the stalls and around the corner and found the small gate by the grass.

14. Daar mochten we meteen naar binnen, en Tess zuchtte blij.

    We were allowed in right away, and Tess sighed happily.

15. We zitten op een kleedje dicht bij het podium maar ver van de luidsprekers, naast mama en Daan.

    We sit on a little rug close to the stage but far from the speakers, next to Mom and Daan.

16. De eerste zachte liedjes beginnen en Tess leunt tevreden tegen mama aan.

    The first soft songs start and Tess leans happily against her mom.

17. Ze fluistert dat ze het plein nu goed kent, omdat Noor ons hielp.

    She whispers that she now knows the square well, because Noor helped us.

18. Op weg naar huis dommelt Tess al in, en de avond in het dorp voelt rustig en veilig.

    On the way home Tess already dozes off, and the evening in the village feels calm and safe.
