Mara und der ruhige Hafenabend

  1. Am kleinen Hafenstrand in der Stadt sitzen Mara und ihr Bruder Leo mit Mama und dem Hund Leni am Abend.

    In the evening at the small harbor beach in town, Mara and her brother Leo sit with their mom and the dog Leni.

  2. Sie wollen leise spielen und den Himmel anschauen.

    They want to play quietly and look at the sky.

  3. In Mamas Tasche liegen ein Ball, ein kleiner Schläger und eine flache Kiste.

    In Mom's bag are a ball, a small racket, and a flat box.

    The sand sparkles beside them, and Mara finds a bright shell.

    A small boat is on the water, and further out a big ship is moving slowly.

  6. Hinter dem Strand rollen ein Bus, ein Lastwagen und ein Fahrrad an der Straße vorbei.

    Behind the beach a bus, a truck, and a bicycle roll past on the road.

  7. Eine Möwe fliegt über sie, und Leni wedelt mit dem Schwanz.

    A seagull flies over them, and Leni wags her tail.

  8. Mara malt ein kleines Kreuz in den Sand und sagt: Wir machen hier ein ruhiges Spiel.

    Mara draws a small cross in the sand and says, "We're playing a quiet game here."

  9. Mit dem Schläger tippt sie den Ball ganz sanft, der Ball hüpft und Leo kickt ihn leicht zurück.

    She taps the ball very gently with the bat, the ball bounces, and Leo kicks it back lightly.

  10. Sie springen einmal vor Freude, doch sie bleiben ruhig.

    They jump once for joy, but they stay calm.

  11. Ein Windstoß kommt, und der Ball rollt Richtung Wasser.

    A gust of wind comes, and the ball rolls toward the water.
