Hoftheater für Opa

1. Im Innenhof ihres Hauses ist es warm und leise.

   It's warm and quiet in the courtyard of their house.

2. Jonas sitzt mit seinem Opa Karl auf der Bank.

   Jonas sits on the bench with his grandpa Karl.

3. Jonas ist Opas Enkelkind und erzählt gern kleine Ideen.

   Jonas is Grandpa's grandchild and likes to tell little ideas.

4. Heute hat Jonas eine Idee: Er will für Opa ein Hof-Theater machen.

   Today Jonas has an idea: he wants to put on a little play for Grandpa in the yard.

5. Seine Cousine Lea kommt dazu und klatscht leise.

   His cousin Lea joins in and claps quietly.

6. Sein Vater Tim, ein liebevoller Vater, bringt Kissen und Decken.

   His father Tim, a caring dad, brings pillows and blankets.

7. "Wir wollen heute schauspielern und eine kleine Bühne aufbauen," flüstert er.

   "We want to act today and set up a small stage," he whispers.

8. "Kunst im Hof ist schön," sagt Opa und nickt.

   "Art in the courtyard is nice," Grandpa says, nodding.

9. Der Nachbar Herr Becker hört sie und winkt vom Fenster.

   The neighbor, Mr. Becker, hears them and waves from the window.

10. Er kommt in den Hof und sagt lächelnd: "Ich war früher Schauspieler, ich helfe euch gern."

    He comes into the yard and says with a smile, "I was an actor before, I'm happy to help you."

11. Er hat früher oft im kleinen Theater gespielt.

    He used to perform often in the small theater.

12. Aus einer Kiste holt er Hüte, Tücher und eine Pappblume.

    He takes hats, scarves and a paper flower out of a box.

13. Als sie proben, wird Jonas plötzlich still, weil er nervös ist.

    When they rehearse, Jonas suddenly becomes silent because he's nervous.

14. Seine Hände zittern, und er sagt, dass er den Anfang nicht weiß.

    His hands tremble, and he says he doesn't know how to start.

15. Herr Becker zeigt ihm ruhig, wie man langsam atmet, und Opa legt ihm die Hand auf die Schulter.

    Mr. Becker calmly shows him how to breathe slowly, and Grandpa puts his hand on his shoulder.

16. Die Lichter im Hof sind weich, und die kleine Bühne wartet.

    The lights in the yard are soft, and the small stage is waiting.

17. Lea spricht die erste Zeile, Jonas findet seine Stimme, und die Szene beginnt.

    Lea speaks the first line, Jonas finds his voice, and the scene begins.
