Noor en de klok van de dag

1. In de ochtend wordt het huis van Noor zacht en licht.

   In the morning Noor's house becomes calm and bright.

2. Noor wil weten wanneer alles gebeurt.

   Noor wants to know when everything will happen.

3. Ze kijkt naar de ronde klok in de woonkamer van haar huis.

   She looks at the round clock in the living room of her house.

4. Papa Lars komt erbij en glimlacht.

   Dad Lars comes over and smiles.

5. Hij zegt: Het is zeven uur.

   He says: It's seven o'clock.

6. Om twaalf uur eten we lunch.

   We have lunch at twelve o'clock.

7. We smeren brood en snijden fruit, en we drinken thee.

   We spread the bread and cut fruit, and we drink tea.

8. In de middag wil Noor bouwen met blokken.

   In the afternoon Noor wants to build with blocks.

9. Maar de klok tikt niet, en Noor raakt even in de war.

   But the clock doesn't tick, and Noor gets a bit confused.

10. Ze denkt: Is het al bijna avond?

    She thinks, "Is it almost evening?"

11. Papa luistert en tilt de klok voorzichtig op.

    Dad listens and carefully lifts the clock.

12. Hij zegt: De batterij is leeg, want de wijzers staan stil.

    He says: The battery is empty because the hands have stopped.

13. Papa zet een nieuwe batterij, en de klok begint weer te tikken.

    Dad puts in a new battery, and the clock starts ticking again.

14. Noor lacht en klapt zacht, nu weet ze weer hoe laat het is.

    Noor laughs and claps softly; now she knows what time it is again.

15. De avond komt rustig, en om zes uur eten Noor en Papa het avondeten samen.

    The evening comes calmly, and at six o'clock Noor and Dad eat dinner together.

16. Ze praten zacht en zeggen dank je wel voor de dag.

    They speak softly and say thank you for the day.

17. Na het eten wast Noor haar gezicht en poetst ze haar tanden.

    After dinner Noor washes her face and brushes her teeth.

18. Papa leest een kort verhaaltje, en Noor valt met een glimlach in slaap.

    Dad reads a short story, and Noor falls asleep with a smile.
