Story

Sannes zachte barbecue-avond

1. Het is avond in de achtertuin, en Sanne wil voor het eerst koken.

   It's evening in the backyard, and Sanne wants to cook for the first time.

2. Papa Tom zet de barbecue klaar in de tuin.

   Dad Tom sets up the barbecue in the garden.

3. "Ik ga vanavond eten maken," zegt Sanne, en ze gaat rustig beginnen.

   "I'm going to make dinner tonight," says Sanne, and she begins calmly.

4. Mama Noor legt een houten plank en kleine bakjes op de tafel.

   Mama Noor puts a wooden board and small bowls on the table.

5. Sanne giet een beetje olie in een kom en snijdt knoflook.

   Sanne pours a little oil into a bowl and chops garlic.

6. Papa zegt: "Een snufje zout en wat peper maken het lekker."

   Dad says, "A pinch of salt and some pepper make it tasty."

7. Sanne wil ook een milde curry proberen, want ze houdt van warme smaken.

   Sanne also wants to try a mild curry, because she likes warm flavors.

8. Ze roert de saus en lacht zacht.

   She stirs the sauce and smiles softly.

9. Tom steekt het vuur aan en zet een klein pannetje op het rooster.

   Tom lights the fire and puts a small pan on the stove.

10. In het pannetje maakt Sanne water heet voor gekookte maïs.

    Sanne heats water in the small pot for boiled corn.

11. Dan legt ze stukken paprika en courgette op het rooster om te roosteren.

    Then she puts pieces of bell pepper and zucchini on the rack to roast.

12. Het vuur wordt plots te fel, maar Tom draait de luchtklep dicht en de vlammen zakken.

    The fire suddenly gets too strong, but Tom closes the air vent and the flames die down.

13. Als de rook weer rustig is, mag Sanne de groente voorzichtig omdraaien.

    When the smoke calms down again, Sanne can carefully turn the vegetables.

14. Ze bestrijkt de groente met de kruidige saus van olie en curry, en het ruikt heerlijk.

    She coats the vegetables with a spicy oil-and-curry sauce, and it smells delicious.

15. "Je kunt de maïs nu van het vuur halen," zegt Mama.

    "You can take the corn off the heat now," says Mom.

16. Even daarvoor schrok Sanne van de hoge vlam, maar nu lacht ze weer rustig.

    Just before, Sanne was startled by the tall flame, but now she smiles calmly again.

17. Samen vullen ze de borden met groente en zachte maïs, en iedereen proeft eerst een klein hapje.

18. Papa zegt: "Morgen gaan we weer samen koken," en Sanne knikt slaperig in de avondlucht.
