Story

Bram en de zachte ijsnacht

1. De slaapkamer van Bram is warm en stil.

   Bram's bedroom is warm and quiet.

2. Er zijn zachte knuffels op het bed: een teddybeer, een knuffelolifant, een knuffeltijger en een knuffelnijlpaard.

   There are soft stuffed animals on the bed: a teddy bear, a stuffed elephant, a stuffed tiger and a stuffed hippopotamus.

3. Bram kijkt naar een boek met een grote ijsbeer.

   Bram looks at a book with a big polar bear.

4. Hij fluistert: 'Waar woont zo'n beer?'

   He whispers, 'Where does a bear like that live?'

5. Hij wil dicht bij zijn teddybeer slapen, maar hij is ook nieuwsgierig.

   He wants to sleep close to his teddy bear, but he is also curious.

6. Mama Noor zit naast het bed en lacht zacht.

   Mama Noor sits next to the bed and smiles softly.

7. Bram zegt: 'De ijsbeer is zo groot, ik ben een beetje bang.'

   Bram says: 'The polar bear is so big, I'm a little scared.'

8. Het licht valt op de foto, en de sneeuw lijkt wit en koud.

   The light falls on the photo, and the snow looks white and cold.

9. Hij trekt de deken hoger en vraagt: 'Komt zo'n beer hier?'

   He pulls the blanket up and asks, 'Is a bear coming here?'

    Mama says, 'No, dear Bram, the polar bear lives far away on the ice, and your bed is here.'

11. Ze maakt een kleine cirkel van kussens en zet de knuffels erop.

    She makes a small circle of pillows and puts the stuffed animals on them.

12. Ze tikt op de teddybeer en zegt: 'Dit is zacht, want het is een knuffel.'

    She taps the teddy and says, 'This is soft because it's a cuddly toy.'

13. Bram glimlacht en legt de olifant, tijger en nijlpaard netjes op een rij.

14. Hij fluistert: 'Ik ben veilig bij mama en mijn knuffels.'

    He whispers, 'I am safe with mom and my cuddly toys.'

15. Mama leest nog één bladzijde over beren, en Bram sluit zijn ogen en valt rustig in slaap.

    Mom reads one more page about bears, and Bram closes his eyes and falls quietly asleep.
