Masanın Altındaki Kitap

1. Gece, Mehmet odasında uyumadan önce kitap okumak ister.

   At night, Mehmet wants to read a book before he sleeps.

2. Odasında bir yatak ve bir masa var.

   There is a bed and a desk in the room.

3. O, sessizce gülümser ve "Kısa bir hikâye yeter," diye düşünür.

   They smile quietly and think, 'A short story is enough.'

4. Mehmet yatağına oturur ve kitabını arıyor.

   Mehmet sits on his bed and looks for his book.

5. "Kitap nerede?" diye fısıldar.

   "Where is the book?" she whispers.

6. "Bu masa küçük; belki kitap masanın altında," der.

   Someone says, "This table is small; maybe the book is under the table."

7. O anda Ayşe kapıdan uzanır ve "Belki kitap oturma odasındaki kanepe üstündedir," der.

   At that moment Ayşe leans in at the door and says, 'Maybe the book is on the couch in the living room.'

8. Mehmet başını sallar: "Önce burada bakalım," der ve masanın altına eğilir.

   He shakes his head: 'Let's look here first,' he says and leans under the table.

9. Kitap oradadır; tozu siler ve sevinir.

   The book is there; he dusts it and is happy.

10. Mehmet yatağına döner, kitabı açar ve yumuşak ışıkta okur.

    Mehmet returns to his bed, opens the book, and reads in the soft light.

11. Gözleri ağırlaşır; "İyi geceler," der ve Ayşe ışığı kısar; oda sakin ve sıcak olur.

    Her eyes grow heavy; she says, "Good night," and Ayşe dims the light. The room becomes calm and warm.
