Defne’nin Aile Ağacı

1. Bu akşam Defne, Büyükanne Ayşe'nin salonunda ailesiyle oturuyor.

   This evening Defne is sitting with her family in Grandmother Ayşe's living room.

2. Defne, "Ailem için küçük bir resim yapmak istiyorum," diyor.

   Defne says, 'I want to make a small picture for my family.'

3. O, herkesin birlikte olduğu bir aile ağacı resmi istiyor.

   They want a family tree picture with everyone together.

4. Masanın üstünde büyük bir kağıt ve renkli kalemler var.

   There is a large sheet of paper and colored pencils on the table.

5. Ama Defne, "Benim siyah kalemim yok," diyor.

   But Defne says, "I don't have my black pen."

6. Dede Mehmet gülümsüyor ve çekmeceden yumuşak bir kalem getiriyor.

   Grandpa Mehmet smiles and brings a soft pencil from the drawer.

7. "Şimdi çizebilirim," diyor Defne.

   "Now I can draw," says Defne.

8. Defne önce büyükanneyi ve dedeyi yan yana çiziyor.

   Defne first draws grandma and grandpa side by side.

9. Sonra Teyze Elif'i, Amca Ali'yi ve küçük kuzeni Can'ı ekliyor.

   Then they add Aunt Elif, Uncle Ali, and little cousin Can.

10. "Benim ailem burada," diyor ve her ismi altına yazıyor.

    She says, 'My family is here,' and writes each name underneath.

11. Resim bitiyor, duvarda güzel bir yer buluyorlar ve resmi oraya asıyorlar.

    The picture is finished; they find a nice place on the wall and hang the picture there.

12. Herkes resme bakıyor ve Defne büyükanne kucağında dinleniyor; akşam sakin, kalpler dolu.

    Everyone looks at the picture and Defne rests on her grandmother's lap; the evening is calm and their hearts are full.
