Un mapa en la sala

  1. En la sala de su apartamento, Carmen mira un mapa sobre la mesa.

    In the living room of her apartment, Carmen looks at a map on the table.

  2. Ella quiere encontrar su edificio en un mapa de la ciudad.

    She wants to find her building on a city map.

  3. Pero el mapa es muy grande, y Carmen no puede verlo bien.

    But the map is very big, and Carmen can't see it well.

  4. Mamá se sienta a su lado y dice: Mira por la ventana; hay una estación cerca.

    Mom sits beside her and says: "Look out the window; there's a station nearby."

  5. “¿Dónde está la estación en el mapa?”, pregunta Mamá.

    "Where is the station on the map?" asks Mom.

  6. Carmen encuentra la estación en el papel y sonríe.

    Carmen finds the station on the paper and smiles.

  7. Ahora podemos seguir la calle desde la estación hasta nuestra casa, dice Mamá.

    "Now we can follow the street from the station to our house," says Mom.

  8. Ella traza una línea suave, y Carmen ve su edificio y dice: Aquí está”.

    She draws a gentle line, and Carmen sees her building and says, "Here it is."

  9. Mamá explica: Vivimos en una ciudad grande; tu tía Ana vive en un pueblo, y la abuela vive en una aldea”.

    Mom explains: "We live in a big city; your aunt Ana lives in a town, and grandma lives in a village."

  10. Carmen dibuja tres casitas en su cuaderno: una para la ciudad, otra para el pueblo y otra para la aldea.

    Carmen draws three little houses in her notebook: one for the city, one for the town, and one for the village.

  11. Ella pega una pegatina en el mapa, justo donde está el edificio, y suspira tranquila.

    She sticks a sticker on the map, right where the building is, and sighs calmly.

  12. Ya lo tengo, dice Carmen, y se acurruca con Mamá para dormir.

    "I have it already," says Carmen, and she snuggles up with Mom to sleep.
