Mara baut eine kleine Karte

1. Es ist Abend, und Mara ist zu Hause in ihrer Wohnung.

   It is evening, and Mara is at home in her apartment.

2. Am Küchentisch baut sie mit Papa Jonas eine kleine Karte.

   At the kitchen table she makes a small card with Dad Jonas.

3. Sie legt Karten für eine Großstadt, eine Kleinstadt und ein Dorf hin.

   She lays out cards for a big city, a small town, and a village.

4. Ein kleiner Bahnhof soll in die Mitte, sagt Papa.

   A small station should be in the middle, says Dad.

5. Aber Mara kann den Bahnhof-Aufkleber nicht finden.

   But Mara can't find the station sticker.

6. Wo ist er, fragt sie leise.

   'Where is he?' she asks softly.

7. Sie schaut unter dem Papier, auf dem Tisch, und in der Tasche.

   She looks under the paper on the table and in the bag.

8. Es gibt viele kleine Dinge auf dem Tisch.

   There are many small things on the table.

9. Papa hebt die Tasse, und darunter blinkt der Aufkleber; gefunden, sagt er, und Mara lacht.

   Papa lifts the cup, and a sticker blinks underneath; "Found it," he says, and Mara laughs.

10. Sie klebt den Bahnhof auf die Karte und zeigt auf die Großstadt, die Kleinstadt und das Dorf.

    She glues the train station onto the map and points to the big city, the small town, and the village.

11. Jetzt ist die Karte fertig, und Mara wird müde.

    Now the card is finished, and Mara gets tired.

12. Papa flüstert: Die kleine Reise ist nur ein Spiel, und hier zu Hause ist es ruhig.

    Papa whispers: The little trip is just a game, and it's quiet here at home.

13. Mara kuschelt sich an Papa, schließt die Augen, und die Wohnung ist still.
