Mara malt ihre Familie

1. Ich bin Mara und sitze am Abend im Wohnzimmer.

   I am Mara and I'm sitting in the living room in the evening.

2. Die Lampe ist warm, und der Tisch hat Papier und Stifte.

   The lamp is warm, and the table has paper and pens.

3. Morgen will ich meiner Lehrerin ein Bild von meiner Familie zeigen.

   Tomorrow I want to show my teacher a picture of my family.

4. Ich male zuerst meine Mutter.

   I draw my mother first.

5. Sie heißt Anna und lächelt freundlich.

   Her name is Anna and she smiles kindly.

6. Dann male ich meinen Vater, er hat eine Brille und lacht.

   Then I draw my father, he has glasses and is laughing.

7. Mein Bruder Max sitzt neben mir und passt auf die Stifte auf.

   My brother Max sits next to me and watches the pencils.

8. Meine Schwester Lea sortiert die Farben in einer kleinen Schale.

   My sister Lea sorts the colors into a small bowl.

9. Ich male mit meinem Bruder und mit Lea, und wir kichern.

   I draw with my brother and Lea, and we giggle.

10. Ich halte an und frage: "Wie zeige ich die Rollen in unserer Familie?"

    I stop and ask, 'How do I show the roles in our family?'

11. "Jede Figur ist eine Person," sagt Anna leise.

    "Each figure is a person," Anna says softly.

12. "Ich bin deine Mama, und Papa ist auch hier," sagt sie und streicht mir über das Haar.

    "I am your mom, and Dad is here too," she says and strokes my hair.

13. Papa nickt und sagt: "Als Vater spiele ich gern mit euch."

    Papa nods and says: "As a father, I like to play with you."

14. Ich schreibe die Namen unter die Bilder mit ruhiger Hand.

    I write the names under the pictures with a steady hand.

15. Max und Lea geben mir Herzen aus Papier, und ich klebe sie neben uns alle.

    Max and Lea give me paper hearts, and I stick them next to all of us.

16. Wir schauen das Bild zusammen an, und es zeigt uns Hand in Hand.

    We look at the picture together, and it shows us holding hands.

17. "Morgen kann ich es meiner Lehrerin zeigen und erklären," sage ich zufrieden.

    "Tomorrow I can show it to my teacher and explain it," I say, satisfied.

18. Ich kuschle mich auf das Sofa, alle atmen ruhig, und ich schlafe langsam ein.

    I snuggle onto the sofa, everyone breathes quietly, and I slowly fall asleep.
