Jonas übt leise für morgen

  1. Jonas sitzt in seinem Zimmer und lernt für morgen.

    Jonas sits in his room and studies for tomorrow.

  2. Auf seinem Tisch liegt das Heft; darauf steht "english".

    On his table is the notebook; it says 'english'.

  3. Jonas möchte heute das alphabet üben.

    Jonas wants to practice the alphabet today.

  4. Die Buchstaben tanzen ein wenig in seinem Kopf, dem "head" auf Englisch.

    The letters dance a little in his head, which is 'head' in English.

  5. Um Ruhe zu finden, zieht er mit dem Bleistift eine gerade "line" auf das Papier.

    To calm down, he draws a straight 'line' on the paper with his pencil.

  6. Mama Anna kommt leise ins Zimmer; sie setzt sich neben ihn und lächelt.

    Mama Anna comes quietly into the room; she sits down beside him and smiles.

  7. In seinem Heft steht: "write" das neue "word".

    In his notebook it says: 'write' the new 'word'.

  8. Jonas malt ein kleines Bild und schreibt auch "picture" dazu.

    Jonas paints a small picture and also writes "picture" next to it.

    "We'll translate this: 'year' means 'Jahr'," says Mom.

  12. "Morgen in class haben wir die erste lesson dazu", sagt sie.

    "Tomorrow in class we'll have the first lesson about it," she says.

  13. Jonas blinzelt; seine eye werden müde, doch er möchte noch ein wenig weitermachen.

    Jonas blinks; his eyes are getting tired, but he wants to keep going a little longer.

  14. Er wählt eine sanfte "colour" für die Überschrift und atmet ruhig.

    He chooses a soft 'colour' for the heading and breathes calmly.

  15. Dann zeigt er auf die Liste und sagt: "Das Wort 'tell' kenne ich jetzt auch."

    Then he points to the list and says, "I know the word 'tell' now too."

  16. Zum Schluss üben sie "night" und flüstern beide "Gute Nacht", und Jonas legt den Stift hin, zufrieden.

    Finally they practice 'night' and both whisper 'Good night', and Jonas puts the pen down, satisfied.
