Le jeu des petits mots

1. Dans la chambre de Nathan, la lampe douce brille.

   In Nathan's room, the soft lamp shines.

2. Nathan veut apprendre de petits mots d’anglais pour l’école demain.

   Nathan wants to learn some English words for school tomorrow.

3. Sa maman, Claire, apporte des cartes avec des mots.

   Her mom, Claire, brings cards with words.

4. Nathan lit "on" et pose la carte sur le livre.

   Nathan reads 'on' and puts the card on the book.

5. Puis il prend "for" et la met près d’un petit dessin de cadeau pour papa.

   Then he takes 'for' and puts it next to a small drawing of a gift for Dad.

6. Il voit "the" et il sourit.

   He sees 'the' and smiles.

7. C’est un mot très utile, dit Claire doucement.

   It's a very useful word, Claire says softly.

8. Une petite carte montre "i", et Nathan touche sa poitrine et dit "moi".

   A small card shows 'i', and Nathan touches his chest and says 'me'.

9. Mais il reste une carte: "answer".

   But one card remains: 'answer'.

10. Nathan ne sait pas quoi faire, et il fronce un peu les sourcils.

    Nathan doesn't know what to do, and he frowns a little.

11. Claire chuchote: "Cherchons la réponse ensemble", et elle pointe un dessin d’une bouche qui parle.

    Claire whispers, 'Let's find the answer together,' and she points to a drawing of a talking mouth.

12. Nathan pose la carte sous la bouche, et il comprend: c’est la réponse.

    Nathan puts the card under his mouth, and he understands: it's the answer.

13. Ils finissent avec "no" sur la boîte de jouets pour dire "pas maintenant", et Nathan baille avec un sourire.

    They finish with "no" on the toy box to say "not now", and Nathan yawns with a smile.
