Story

De rollenstrook van Noor

1. In de woonkamer zit Noor op het kleed en ze wil een klein spel maken over haar familie.

   In the living room Noor is sitting on the rug and she wants to make a small game about her family.

2. Ze zegt: 'Ik maak een rolkaart voor ons, want ik wil laten zien wie wie is'.

   She says, "I'll make a name tag for us because I want to show who is who."

3. Er is een grote tafel met papier en stiften.

   There is a big table with paper and markers.

4. Haar moeder heet Lotte, en haar vader heet Tom.

   Her mother's name is Lotte, and her father's name is Tom.

5. Noor lacht en zegt: 'Wij spelen rollen, en ik teken eerst', zegt ze zacht.

   Noor laughs and says softly, 'We're playing roles, and I'll draw first.'

6. Ze kijkt naar haar ouders en fluistert: 'Wie ben ik in het spel?'.

   She looks at her parents and whispers, "Who am I in the game?"

7. Haar broer Milan rolt een zachte bal, en haar zus Sara klapt zacht in haar handen.

   Her brother Milan rolls a soft ball, and her sister Sara claps her hands softly.

8. Noor legt kaarten neer met tekeningen; elke persoon heeft een rol.

   Noor lays out cards with drawings; each person has a role.

9. Ze wijst: 'Dit is mijn kaart, en dat is jouw kaart'.

   She points: "This is my card, and that is your card."

    On one card Noor draws Teacher Kim with a big smile, for tomorrow.

    But she sighs and asks, 'Where do I put Mom and Dad?'

    The paper seems too small.

13. Papa Tom haalt een extra vel, en Mama Lotte plakt het vast met tape.

    Dad Tom gets an extra sheet, and Mom Lotte tapes it down.

14. Ze maken een lange strook; nu past alles, want er is plek voor iedereen.

    They make a long row; now everything fits, because there's room for everyone.

15. Noor schrijft namen bij de tekeningen en zegt: 'Zo kan ik het morgen laten zien'.

    Noor writes names by the drawings and says, 'That way I can show it tomorrow.'

16. Ze oefenen zacht: mama leest een verhaaltje, papa zet thee, Milan en Sara lachen.

    They practice softly: mom reads a story, dad makes tea, Milan and Sara laugh.

17. Noor kijkt trots naar de strook en vraagt: 'Wie ben ik morgen in de klas?'.

    Noor looks proudly at the strip and asks, "Who will I be in class tomorrow?".

18. Haar moeder geeft haar een knuffel en zegt: 'Jij bent Noor, en jij hoort bij ons', en Noor valt rustig in slaap op de bank.

    Her mother gives her a hug and says, 'You're Noor, and you belong with us,' and Noor falls asleep calmly on the sofa.
