Story

Una noche antes del viaje

1. Mateo quiere hacer un viaje mañana para ver a su abuela.

   Mateo wants to take a trip tomorrow to see his grandmother.

2. El plan es ir al aeropuerto muy temprano.

   The plan is to go to the airport very early.

3. Ahora están en la calle frente a su casa, y la noche es tranquila.

   Now they are on the street in front of their house, and the night is quiet.

4. El coche de papá no arranca, así que hoy piden un taxi.

   Dad's car won't start, so today they call a taxi.

5. —¿Dónde está el taxi?— dice Mateo, un poco inquieto.

   "Where is the taxi?" says Mateo, a little anxious.

6. Hay pocos autos en la calle, y el viento es suave.

   There are few cars on the street, and the wind is gentle.

7. Mamá sonríe y dice: Vamos a caminar hasta la esquina, y el taxi nos ve mejor.

   Mom smiles and says: Let's walk to the corner, and the taxi will see us better.

8. Mateo toma la mano de Mamá, y ellos caminan despacio bajo la luz.

   Mateo takes Mom's hand, and they walk slowly under the light.

9. De pronto, un taxi amarillo dobla la esquina y frena.

   Suddenly, a yellow taxi turns the corner and stops.

10. El chofer, don Luis, dice: Mañana iremos al aeropuerto muy temprano, ¿sí?

    The driver, Don Luis, says: Tomorrow we'll go to the airport very early, okay?

11. Mateo asiente, ya está todo listo, y él se siente tranquilo.

    Mateo nods, everything is ready, and he feels calm.

12. Vuelven a casa, preparan el reloj, y la calle queda en silencio.

    They return home, set the clock, and the street falls silent.
