Mara und das leise Reptilienbuch

1. Mara liegt im Bett.

   Mara is in bed.

2. Sie will heute etwas über Reptilien hören.

   She wants to hear about reptiles today.

3. Papa bringt das Buch und setzt sich neben sie.

   Papa brings the book and sits down beside her.

4. Er sagt leise: Wir lesen ein bisschen, dann schläfst du.

   He says quietly, "We'll read a little, then you'll sleep."

5. Es gibt auf der ersten Seite eine grüne Eidechse.

   There is a green lizard on the first page.

6. Auf der zweiten Seite schwimmt ein Krokodil ganz ruhig.

   On the second page a crocodile is swimming very calmly.

7. Dann sehen sie einen Frosch, der am Rand sitzt.

   Then they see a frog sitting on the edge.

8. Auf der nächsten Seite ringelt sich eine Schlange am Bach.

   On the next page a snake curls by the brook.

9. Mara staunt und sagt: Ich kann die Zunge sehen.

   Mara is amazed and says, 'I can see my tongue.'

10. Im Regal sitzt ihr alter Tiger als Stofftier und passt mit auf.

    On the shelf her old tiger sits as a stuffed animal and watches over them.

11. Plötzlich krabbelt an der Lampe eine kleine Spinne, und Mara hält den Atem an.

    Suddenly a small spider crawls on the lamp, and Mara holds her breath.

12. Sie mag das Tier nicht so gern, aber sie will tapfer sein.

    She doesn't like the animal very much, but she wants to be brave.

13. Papa flüstert: Wir tun ihr nichts, sie will nur laufen.

    Papa whispers: We won't hurt her, she just wants to run.

14. Er hält ein Glas hin, und die Spinne steigt leise hinein.

    He holds out a glass, and the spider climbs in quietly.

15. Am Fenster öffnet er es, und die Spinne geht in die Nacht.

    He opens the window, and the spider goes out into the night.
