Yesterday we were near the coast when a terrible storm suddenly broke out.

Ah bon ? Mon cœur battrait très fort dans une telle situation.

Oh really? My heart would beat very fast in that situation.

La rivière inondait déjà rapidement quand le capitaine a décidé de retourner au port.

The river was already flooding rapidly when the captain decided to return to the port.
Manon
Tu as eu de la chance que ce bateau soit assez rapide pour échapper aux vagues.

You were lucky that the boat was fast enough to escape the waves.

Pendant que nous courions sur le pont, je pouvais sentir le vent qui soufflait très fort.

As we ran across the bridge, I could feel the wind blowing very hard.

J'imagine la scène ! Les passagers devaient être complètement frappés par la peur.

I can imagine the scene! The passengers must have been very frightened.

Quelques personnes criaient pendant que d'autres se tenaient debout près de la fenêtre.

Some people were shouting while others stood by the window.

Si j'étais là, je crois que j'aurais sauté de joie en arrivant enfin sur la terre ferme.

If I had been there, I think I would have jumped for joy when I finally reached dry land.

Quand nous sommes finalement arrivés, la pluie tombait toujours et le ciel était sombre.

When we finally arrived, it was still raining and the sky was dark.

Et maintenant, est-ce que tu retournerais en mer après cette aventure effrayante ?

And now, would you go back to sea after that scary adventure?

Bien sûr ! Si on évite la saison des tempêtes, la mer reste magnifique.

Of course! If we avoid the storm season, the sea is still beautiful.

Tu es vraiment courageux. Moi, je préfère regarder l'océan depuis la plage tranquille.
