1. Ich sitze abends in meinem Zimmer und male ruhig.

   In the evening I sit in my room and draw quietly.

2. Papa Lukas ist bei mir, und er legt das kleine Lernheft auf den Tisch.

   Dad Lukas is with me, and he puts the little workbook on the table.

3. Ich will üben, ob ich die Dinge richtig sehe.

   I want to practice to see if I can see the things correctly.

4. Papa zeigt auf einen runden Ball und fragt: "Ist der Ball rot oder blau?"

   Dad points to a round ball and asks, "Is the ball red or blue?"

5. Ich lache und sage: "Der Ball ist rot; das ist wahr."

   I laugh and say, 'The ball is red; that's true.'

6. Papa nickt und sagt: "Diese Antwort ist gut."

   Papa nods and says: "That's a good answer."

7. Dann zeigt Papa auf ein Bild von einem Hund und fragt leise: "Kann eine Katze bellen?"

   Then Dad points to a picture of a dog and asks quietly, "Can a cat bark?"

8. Ich denke kurz und sage: "Nein, das ist falsch."

   I think for a moment and say, 'No, that's wrong.'

9. Papa lächelt: "Das ist korrekt."

   Papa smiles: "That's correct."

14. Ich schaue genau und atme langsam.

    I look carefully and breathe slowly.

15. Jetzt sehe ich es klar und sage: "Er ist rot; mein erstes Wort war wirklich richtig."

    Now I see it clearly and say, "He is red; my first word was really right."

16. Papa sagt: "Du prüfst gut, Emma, und jetzt ist alles klar und ruhig."

    Papa says: "You check carefully, Emma, and now everything is clear and calm."

17. Ich mache einen Haken ins Heft und schließe es leise.

    I put a check mark in the notebook and close it quietly.

18. Papa deckt mich zu und flüstert: "Fragen sind gut, und die Suche nach Wahrheit macht stark."

    Papa tucks me in and whispers: "Questions are good, and the search for truth makes you strong."

19. Ich lächle, ich bin müde und froh, und ich schlafe ein.

    I smile, I'm tired and happy, and I fall asleep.
