Tess telt tot honderd

1. Het is laat in Tess' slaapkamer.

   It's late in Tess's bedroom.

2. Tess telt zacht de sterren op de muur: tien, twintig, dertig.

   Tess softly counts the stars on the wall: ten, twenty, thirty.

3. "Hoeveel zijn het nu?" vraagt ze, want ze raakt de tel kwijt.

   "How many are there now?" she asks, because she loses count.

4. "Ik heb een wens: ik wil tot honderd," fluistert Tess.

   "I have a wish: I want to count to one hundred," whispers Tess.

5. Lars komt zacht binnen en gaat bij haar zitten.

   Lars comes in quietly and sits down next to her.

6. "Er zijn tien per rij," zegt hij zacht.

   "There are ten per row," he says softly.

7. "Tel per tien met mij: tien, twintig, dertig, veertig, vijftig," zegt Lars.

   "Count by tens with me: ten, twenty, thirty, forty, fifty," Lars says.

8. "Ik zal zo tellen en rustig worden," zegt Tess.

   "I'll count in a moment and calm down," says Tess.

9. Tess telt weer: zestig, zeventig, tachtig, negentig, honderd.

   Tess counts again: sixty, seventy, eighty, ninety, one hundred.

10. Het is stil, en Tess is nu rustig en warm onder de deken.

    It is quiet, and Tess is now calm and warm under the blanket.

11. Lars glimlacht en geeft een kus op haar haar.

    Lars smiles and kisses her hair.

12. Tess slaapt.

    Tess is sleeping.
