  1. Es ist Abend im Kinderzimmer.

    It's evening in the bedroom.

  2. Emma hat eine kleine Box mit Zahlkarten.

    Emma has a small box with number cards.

  3. Sie zählt leise in Zehnern: zehn, zwanzig, dreißig, vierzig.

    She counts quietly by tens: ten, twenty, thirty, forty.

  4. Es gibt eine leere Stelle auf der Leine, und Emma stoppt.

    There is an empty spot on the line, and Emma stops.

  5. Die Karte mit fünfzig ist weg, denkt sie.

    She thinks the card with fifty is gone.

    Dad Paul comes, and he can help.

    The box is under the pillow, says Dad.
