By next year the old factory will have been converted into modern apartments. However, the plans are facing strong opposition.

Tatsächlich, Tom. Der Architekt erklärte, dass die alte Brücke erfolgreich restauriert worden sei, doch die Anwohner sind skeptisch.

Indeed, Tom. The architect said the old bridge had been successfully restored, but the residents are skeptical.

Das Unternehmen plant außerdem, das gesamte Personal an einen neuen Standort zu verlegen. Das halte ich für riskant.

The company also plans to move all staff to a new location. I think that is risky.

Allerdings könnte die Umstrukturierung auch erhebliche Effizienzgewinne mit sich bringen. Man darf die Vorteile nicht ignorieren.

Effizienz ist ein häufig missbrauchtes Argument. Wäre die Belegschaft frühzeitig konsultiert worden, hätte man Vertrauen aufbauen können.

Efficiency is an often abused argument. If the staff had been consulted early, trust could have been built.

Das stimmt allerdings. Konsultation sollte nicht erst nach den Beschlüssen erfolgen, sondern bereits in der Planungsphase .

That is true. Consultation should not take place only after decisions are made, but already in the planning phase.

Genau. Sonst wirkt jede sogenannte Beteiligung wie eine bloße Formalität ohne tatsächlichen Einfluss .

Exactly. Otherwise any so-called participation looks like a mere formality without real influence.

Andererseits darf man nicht erwarten, dass jedes Detail zur Diskussion gestellt wird. Manche Entscheidungen verlangen unternehmerischen Mut.

On the other hand, you can't expect every detail to be up for discussion. Some decisions require entrepreneurial courage.

Gewiss. Dennoch sollte zumindest die grundsätzliche Richtung gemeinsam erarbeitet werden, damit niemand sich übergangen fühlt.

Certainly. However, at least the basic direction should be worked out together so no one feels left out.

Das räume ich ein. Wenn die Transformation sorgfältig kommuniziert wird, könnte sie sogar als positives Modell dienen.

I admit that. If the transformation is communicated carefully, it could even serve as a positive example.

Genau das wäre der ideale Verlauf. Eine gelungene Verwandlung verlangt Geduld ebenso wie Visionen.

That would be the ideal course. A successful change needs patience as well as vision.

Visionen allein reichen jedoch nicht, sofern die Umsetzung scheitert. Wir benötigen ein robustes Projektmanagement.

Visions alone are not enough if implementation fails. We need strong project management.
