Vandaag ga ik naar school.
English: Today I go to school.
In Dutch, 'inversie' means that the verb comes before the subject in a sentence. This happens in certain situations, not in normal main clauses.
You use inversie in Dutch when the sentence does not start with the subject. For example, after words that tell when, where, or how something happens, or after some connecting words.
Vandaag ga ik naar school.
English: Today I go to school.
Om acht uur begint de les.
English: At eight o'clock the lesson starts.
Daar woont mijn tante.
English: My aunt lives there.
Na het eten leest hij een boek.
English: After dinner he reads a book.
Eerst maakt zij haar huiswerk.
English: First she does her homework.
