If reality genuinely matched our ideal dreams, life would be perfect — yet such alignment is, in practice, almost never achieved.

Exactly. Idealists who refuse to adjust often achieve less than pragmatists who calibrate continuously.

True. The ultimate goal might be unreachable, but it nevertheless orients the journey in productive directions.

Indeed. Goals function less as destinations and more as compasses, providing direction even when the terrain shifts unexpectedly.

A nice formulation. Without some ideal to aim toward, daily decisions tend to lose coherence and significance.

Exactly. Yet equally, treating the ideal as literally achievable courts continuous disappointment and ultimately disillusionment.

A wise balance, though notoriously difficult to maintain. Most of us oscillate between excessive optimism and unwarranted despair depending on circumstances.
